Ray Raisins

Hello. I'm Ray Raisins. I'm a shy but really sweet fellow who loves to tell the world about raisins.

Did you know that most raisins start out as seedless grapes? And did you know that California produces 95 % of all the grapes that are used to make raisins? Raisins can be made two different ways. One way is to dry grapes in the sun for about 2 to 3 weeks. Another way is to bathe the grapes in warm water, then place the grapes on wood trays, and use streams of warm air to gently dry them. This takes about 24 hours and is called the "Spa" treatment. The result is a sweet, plump and moist raisin.

Here's a tip for you: A handful of raisins or a 1-ounce box is equal to one serving. Naturally sweet, raisins make a great snack. You can find raisins in your supermarket all year round. And they're really easy to eat. Just open the box and start snacking. Raisins are also great because they're good for you. They have fiber, which helps keep your body strong and healthy. Raisins also taste great in many other foods like muffins, pancakes, waffles, salads, sandwiches and more.
